Financial Reports
All reports are read straight from the journal, so they always agree with each other.
Accounting Overview (/accounting)
The landing page of the module.
- Cash & Bank: money you hold.
- Inventory (Books): stock valued at cost, according to the books.
- Tax Owed: sales tax collected that you have not yet settled, net of any reclaimable tax.
- Profit This Month: net profit so far this month.
- Month to date table: revenue, cost of sales, gross profit, expenses and net profit, this month against last month.
- Last six months: revenue, cost of sales, expenses and net profit per month, with a bar for scale.
Trial Balance (/accounting/reports/trial-balance)
Every account's balance on one date, split into a debit column and a credit column.
- Choose an As of date (blank means today).
- The banner confirms Balanced: debits = credits. If it ever doesn't, the report says so plainly.
- Click an account name to open its history.
Profit & Loss (/accounting/reports/profit-loss)
What the business earned and spent over a period.
- Choose a From and To date.
- Shows Revenue (sales less returns and discounts), Cost of goods sold, Gross profit, each expense, and Net profit.
Balance Sheet (/accounting/reports/balance-sheet)
What the business owns, owes and is worth on a date.
- Assets (cash, bank, receivables, inventory) = Liabilities (payables, tax payable) + Equity (capital, opening balance equity, retained earnings, and profit to date).
- Choose an As of date. The banner confirms the two sides are equal.
Tax Report (/accounting/reports/tax)
Tax by rate for a period.
- Collected on sales (less returns) and paid on purchases and expenses, grouped by tax rate.
- The difference is the tax you owe (or can reclaim).
Reconciliation (/accounting/reports/reconciliation)
A health check that the books agree with the rest of the system. Each line reads OK, or shows what differs and by how much.
| Check | What it confirms |
|---|---|
| Debits equal credits | The journal balances. |
| Assets = Liabilities + Equity + Profit | The accounting equation holds. |
| Everything reached the books | Each sale, return, purchase, expense, payment and stock adjustment has a journal entry; none is missing or orphaned. |
| Sales Tax Payable | The tax in the books matches the tax on recorded sales, less returns. |
| Accounts Receivable | The books match what customers actually owe on credit documents. |
| Accounts Payable | The books match what you actually owe on credit purchases and bills. |
| Inventory | The books match the stock on hand valued at product cost. |
Why Inventory can differ: if you buy stock and treat the tax as reclaimable, the tax is held in Input Tax Receivable rather than in Inventory, so the books can be lower than "stock at cost" by exactly that tax. The check explains the difference rather than hiding it.
For a platform owner, three extra checks cover subscription revenue and deferred revenue (see Subscription Revenue & Platform Books).
